Next Phase Recruitment, originally known as SLS Services, was formed in 1991 and has developed a strong reputation across the UK, Europe and the USA for the recruitment of permanent and contract staff within the Life Science and Technology industries.

Steve Twinley joined Next Phase in 2006 as a graduate and worked his way up to becoming Managing Director in 2016. With a background in Psychology, Steve has built an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team and uses his leadership skills to ensure that Next Phase continues to build on the quality and integrity on which it was founded.

Jake Thomas joined Next Phase in 2020, having built a successful life science recruitment organisation as MD elsewhere in his earlier career, and having seen the potential to grow Next Phase in a similar way. Jake has a degree in Business and has brought an additional entrepreneurial flair to the organisation, particularly with Next Phase's international service offerings.

Alongside Steve's promotion to Managing Director at the end of 2016, the business was joined by Miles Hunt, Chairman of APSCo and a highly respected individual within the Technical Recruitment sector. Miles has expertise within International Staffing markets which, combined with Steve and Jake's energy and leadership, will ensure that Next Phase continues to be one of the best known and most respected recruitment brands within the Life Science & Technology sectors.

An example of one of our long-term clients

Next Phase has worked with a leading Biopharmaceutical company in West Sussex since 2006. The company in question has around 270 staff and Next Phase has placed over 190 individuals in a mixture of permanent and temporary positions with them to date. While not formally the sole supplier, Next Phase is the technical agency of choice and has successfully filled roles in wide-ranging disciplines including Development Scientists, Stability, Production Planning, Manufacturing Management and Support, QA/QC and Regulatory Affairs. The company manufactures their products (from patient-specific to bulk manufacture) across a range of different clean rooms including sterile and non sterile. They are not based in a "Pharmaceutical hot spot”, so a significant number of individuals who have been placed with them have had to relocate to the West Sussex area. Next Phase provide an information pack to all prospective relocators’ to help them learn more about the South Coast of the UK, including up-to-date information about cost of living in West Sussex, and the opportunities that will be available to them and their families if they move to the area.
