Job Description

Based in Bristol, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Factors Specialist to join an innovative design consultancy, providing support to clients from the consumer, industrial and medical device sectors; which is where this role will focus.

The Role

You will be responsible for designing and conducting both formative and summative usability studies for medical devices; from recruitment to interpreting study results and presenting findings to the wider internal design team, clients and producing documentation for submission to regulatory bodies. These studies will take place in the UK but also on a global scale so travel will be a part of the role and is estimated at around 30% of the role. The resulting insights gained from these studies will be used to improve design with a focus on the requirements of the end user and risk management.

The Company

A long-established design consultancy, that focus on the value they can bring to tomorrow via innovative products and solutions. They are a collaboration of Designers, Engineers, Researchers and Strategists that together offer support to clients, from packaging solutions for house hold name beverage manufacturers to environmental testing partnerships with academia and innovative medical devices for oncology treatment and point of care diagnostics. On offer is an attractive salary and benefit package alongside a great working culture where interaction and idea sharing is encouraged at all levels to successfully complete projects all under one roof.

Experience

The successful candidate will need to have a Human Factors/Ergonomics degree, or academic qualifications in an associated subject and be able to demonstrate human factors experience from a commercial environment, ideally within medical device design.

You will have experience in formative and validation usability studies and well versed in presenting insights gleaned from them to your colleagues, clients and regulatory bodies. An appreciation of medical device quality management (ISO13485) would be advantageous. You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to work well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and keen attention to detail is required due to the highly regulated nature of the work and knowledge of application of usability to medical devices would be highly advantageous.
