Job Description

Are you a Senior Buyer with experience from a fast-paced, regulated Pharmaceutical (or similar) environment? If so, this is an excellent opportunity to join a leading Pharmaceutical organisation in Swindon, Wiltshire and move up into a strategic Site Procurement role with a broad range of responsibilities around material cost out, indirect products and services, vendor management, payment terms, contract negotiations and more.

This is a newly created permanent position, with leadership for a number of services across a pioneering, professional Pharmaceutical organisation. The salary is up to £45,000 (plus bonus, healthcare and contributory pension), making this an ideal step for a Senior Buyer looking to move up to a role with creater autonomy and a more strategic focus.

The Company

A major Pharmaceutical service organisation based in Swindon, Wiltshire. Across 30+ sites worldwide, the company offers a range of drug development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution services to the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The Swindon site is a R&D and manufacturing facility, producing both large and smaller quantities of patented products. This is a fast-paced, highly regulated business with strong international links to suppliers in China and other global locations.

The Role

The position is responsible functionally for strategic direct and indirect procurement across the site. This includes the development and execution of strategic initiatives that involve material cost out, indirect products and services, vendor management, payment terms, eSourcing, negotiations, contracting, dual sourcing and New Product Introductions to achieve and support the goals and objectives as established by Global Procurement, Site Operations and Key functions.

You will have a variety of accountabilities including Financial ownership, Operational Excellence projects, Procurement Process Compliance and relationship building with key internal and external stakeholders. Full details will be provided on application.


The successful candidate will ideally have a degree education (or similar) in Business, Finance, Purchasing, Engineering or another Operations-related field. You will also need significant Procurement / Buying experience, preferably gained in a Pharmaceutical or Food setting, where standards are very high and process-driven. You will ideally be a Senior Buyer, looking to move up to a more strategic and side-wide position in a fast-paced Pharmaceutical setting. We are looking for someone with excellent business knowledge and relationship-building skills.
