Megan is recruiting for a Scientist Lentiviral Vectors to join an ambitious company who are at the forefront of synthetic biology and its application to the discovery, development and manufacture of biologics – in particular viral vectors for gene therapy applications. This opportunity is within their growing Viral Vector team as they further expand into the Viral Therapeutics field. With the focus on the engineering of Lentiviral vectors and establishing the stable viral packaging cell lines and associated processes.
The Scientist role is to work on both internal and external research programmes, working as part of a wider team engineering Lentiviral Vectors and establishing stable viral packaging cell lines. This is a more senior role in the laboratories meaning you will be leading research programmes from the bench and mentoring more junior scientists. You will be a point of contact for extremal collaborators to define project goals, and deliverables in line with overall project objectives and then work to these. You will be working with a range of adherent and suspended cell lines with the responsibility for engineering Lentiviral vectors in line with project specifications using their unique platform technology. To then develop novel bio – production methods for the vectors along with developing methods for their characterisation. Making this an excellent opportunity to be exposed to a range of areas of the business both inside and outside the lab to join a growing department in this exciting and fast developing company.

Desired Skills and Experience:
You will need an MSc or PhD for this opportunity combined with academic or commercial experience, commercial experience is an advantage to your application. You will need to have experience of working with mammalian cell lines including adherent and suspended cell lines in different formats. With experience of the engineering of lentiviral vectors, their production and characterisation. Using a range of analytical techniques including PCR and flow cytometry.
If you have experience of the following it is advantageous to your application but not essential: production of stable mammalian cell lines, use of gene editing tools for cell engineering, experience of cell sorting and the characterisation of clonal cell lines, experience of the use of robotic liquid handling and automation systems
