Job Description

Based in London, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Factors Specialist to join an innovative design consultancy, providing support to clients from the consumer, industrial and medical device sectors; which is where this role will focus.

The Role
You will be responsible for designing and conducting both formative and summative usability studies for medical devices; from recruitment to interpreting study results and presenting findings to the wider internal design team, clients and producing documentation for submission to regulatory bodies. In this client facing role you will be responsible for working with them to define the project, from scope and protocol writing through to employing qualitative and quantitative research to present findings and recommendations. As the Human Factors subject matter expert, you will guide pharmaceutical and medical device clients in developing innovative products and solutions that will have real impacts on user’s lives.

The Company
A long-established design consultancy, that work with some of the worlds most respected companies across a range of sectors including medical, industrial and consumer sectors. My client has a global presence and has won numerous design awards for the products they have produced. They are a collaboration of Designers, Engineers and Researchers working to complete projects all under one roof.

The successful candidate will need to have a Human Factors/Ergonomics degree, or academic qualifications in an associated subject and be able to demonstrate human factors experience from a commercial environment within medical device design. This experience can be from another consultancy or from an in-house environment.

You will have experience in formative and validation usability studies and be well versed in presenting insights gleaned from them to your colleagues, clients and regulatory bodies. You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to work well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with keen attention to detail, due to the highly regulated nature of the work. Moderation skills are extremely important as is the ability to prioritise and organize the project workload. Experience gained within UX/UI and IFU would also be advantageous. Above all you will need to be passionate about usability and its application to the medical field.
