James Hume is recruiting for a Scientist AAV Vectors to join an ambitious company who are at the forefront of synthetic biology and its application to the discovery, development and manufacture of Biologics, Cell & Gene Therapies. This role is to be part of their AAV Vector group that engineers viral vectors and novel bio – production methodologies working with both academia and industry. An area that the company wants to continue to expand based on the demand for their expertise. The purpose of this role is to focus on the generation of molecular constructs for the production of Adeno – associated Virus.
The Scientist role is to focus on the generation of molecular constructs for the production of AAV vectors, with the responsibility to lead form the bench for both internal R&D and commercial projects. This role will be supporting the AAV production team as part of the AAV group whose purpose is to to develop solutions for th engineering of viral vectors and novel – bioproduction methodologies.
This is a senior role in the laboratory where you will be leading projects in the lab with the responsibility for mentoring more junior staff as well as overseeing their work and the delivery of projects. Going forward you will be an important part as this function grows because this is a growth area for the company, meaning this role has very strong career progression opportunities.
Desired Skills and Experience:
You will need to be educated to PhD level with preferably some post – doctoral or commercial experience, or with an MSc and commercial experience. The focus of this role is on AAV vectors meaning you will need to have demonstrable experience of the AAV genetics and gene therapy applications. With experience of generating complex DNA constructs. As well as experience of handling adherent cell lines e.g. multiwell plates, hyperflasks / stacks or cell factories. You will need to have experience of using molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA Sequencing, RT – PCR and ELISA. With experience of using analytical techniques for the genetics characterisation of Viral particles.
