The company are at the cutting edge of research into Cell and Gene therapies, working with their partners to take these through the commercialisation process to market launch. So far they have successfully taken therapies to phase II clinical trials with these progressing to phase III soon. Which has led to the construction of a new manufacturing facility to meet the increased volume of therapies needed for the latter stages of clinical trials. They not only have therapies under development across a wide range of therapeutic areas including oncology and cardiovascular. They are also researching into advanced manufacturing processes such as automation, developing characterisation of potency assays, cell plasticity projects, sterility testing alongside their therapy development programmes to support the growth of the sector. They work in a very and dynamic forward thinking way looking to utilise the latest technologies enable them to remain at the forefront of research into this exciting sector that has great potential. Which puts them right at the forefront of research into this area and having an increasingly positive impact on this exciting and dynamic sector.
The Senior Scientist is a dynamic role with a range of responsibilities that incorporates those outside that are client focused and science focused inside of the laboratory. This combination reflects the senior standing within the Industrialisation Group to drive projects forward from the bench working closely with the Lead Scientists. Taking responsibility for the timely delivery of research projects to the right quality with involvement in the whole life cycle of projects helping to set out resources, and milestones for assigned projects. Working closely with clients to share work flows and research plans from the beginning to then be in close contact with them during projects.
Within the laboratories you will drive projects forward to keep them in line with agreed research plans by managing the scientists assigned to the project. The projects focus on viral vector process and analytical development, developing bio-processing techniques such as bio-reactors and chromatography. You will be responsible for the design, qualification, and validation of upstream and / or downstream processes and the analysis of data to keep research moving forward. It is the responsibility of the Senior Scientist to manage any technology transfer both in a transferring capacity and receiving site.

Desired Skills and Competencies:
As a Senior Scientist you will need to have PhD with knowledge of viral vectors (lentiviral, adenoviral, retroviral etc.) and their biology. With experience of upstream and / or downstream processing as well as, cell line development, cell culture of human and / or mammalian cell lines. You will need experience of chromatography, filtration and other separation / purification techniques along with the development of characterisation assays. Due to the seniority of this role you will need experience / knowledge of tech transfer to or from commercial and / or research organisations. You will need to have either GMP experience, or knowledge of GMP, or the development of products ready for a regulated environment.
