Job Description

A Biotech that is leading the way in the development of T -Cell therapies is recruiting for a Quality Control Manager to lead a QC team to support clinical trial manufacture.  With the purpose to not only lead the team that is responsible for the release of products for use within clinical trials.  But also grow and develop the QC function to keep pace with the changing needs as the therapies progress through trials, more reach the clinic and they move to commercial manufacture.  This is an excellent career opportunity to secure a role that offers longer term career development at the cutting edge of science.

The Company

A pioneering and ambitious Biopharmaceutical company who develop next-generation, programmed T-cell therapies to treat cancer. The organisation has existed for 4 years and is very well funded, with a clear strategy and expansion plan for the next 3 years and beyond. Scientifically, the company has extremely exciting technologies, using a broad suite of proprietary and modular T-cell programming to engineer precisely targeted, controlled and highly active T cells. Commercially, they have a pipeline of product candidates in development (for the treatment of haematological malignancies and solid tumours) and is increasing its GMP production capacity. Based in a state-of-the-art facility in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, you will join a team that is doing something genuinely meaningful.

The Role

This is a varied role where you will be leading a small team supporting GMP T – cell manufacturing operations that is responsible for the release of these advanced therapies.   As the Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for developing the strategy for the team, working with senior members of the company to do so and then implement it.  You will be overseeing the transfer, qualification, and validation of appropriate methods for use in the testing of products by your team.  As their manager, you will oversee their professional development to help progress their careers and meet the needs of the manufacturing operations.  As well as grown and develop the team going forwards.

They are working towards their future goals with the construction of a purpose-built manufacturing site in North London due to open in c2 years as well as progressing through clinical trials.  As the QC Manager, you will be a part of this development from a QC perspective to help devise and implement strategies as your own role evolves over time.

Experience

The successful candidate will have a strong qualification (higher degree preferred) in Biology, Biomedical Science, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Haematology, Pharmacology or similar, combined with experience gained managing a commercial QC lab. You will need knowledge of a range of biopharmaceutical and cell-based techniques with a good understanding of cell biology and immunology.  With familiarity of regulatory guidance for a GMP compliant environment manufacturing ATMP’s, cell therapies, gene therapies, biologics, vaccines or similar products.
