The role of Bioinformatics Engineer is highly collaborative working with software engineers and biologists with the core function will be the application of bioinformatics and platform development. You will be designing new bioinformatic tools in their proprietary language working on internal and external projects.
In addition to the core duties you will also developing bespoke informatics workflows on a bespoke basis for clients. As part of the collaborative nature of this role you will advise in projects on areas such as experimental design and analysis. Plus, developing device models and exploring new capabilities of their language to further advance their research.
This role is at a senior level within the company because of the influence it will have across all departments but also giving you the autonomy to fulfill the responsibilities as you see fit, as well as bring your own ideas to fruition as part of their continued research.

Desired Skills and Experience
You will need to be educated to ideally MSc / Mres level with experience of working a s Bioinformatician in a commercial environment. With the ability to write code in a compiling language such as Java, C or C++ or Go (Golang). You will need to have a good knowledge of software development tools and methods e.g. version control, test driven development, CI pipelines etc. From your experience of bioinformatics, you will need to have related software such as BLAST, or sequence databases, or sequencing technologies, and analysis methods. Due to the collaborative nature of this role you will need to be able to work in a highly collaborative environment.
