A pioneering company who have developed a revolutionary platform technology for the in vitro DNA amplification method for the production of synthetic DNA that can be used in therapeutics, viral vectors, diagnostic, and synthetic biology applications. They are based in state of the art laboratories in Hampton and are a dynamic company who are leaders in the field with great potential going forward that is now being realised as they enter a phase of growth.
They take a very exploratory approach to their research which remains and will continue to be a strong focus for them. As they further explore how they can apply their platform technology, develop new concepts and further improve existing processes. That complements their commercial work in partnership with Biotech to help develop new or enhance existing processes or products. As they continue to support the development of next generation genetics medicines and DNA based technologies.
The role of the Research Scientist is to be focused on the downstream processing to develop new processes for the production of novel DNA for use in commercial GMP environments. You will be working on new exploratory processes as part of their continued R&D programmes as well as working on collaborative projects with external partners.
You will be conducting DSP experiments to support the translation of concepts into new platforms and processes for transfer to manufacture. Using Molecular Biology techniques for the purification and assaying of the products, working as part of a team with other scientists such as manufacturing and upstream processing. This is a varied role where you will be working to improve new innovative methods for the production of DNA, the evaluation of new methods, and producing DNA for the development of new platforms. This role plays a key part in their R&D processes with the responsibility for designing experiments, working with senior members of the team in an environment where you can use your science.
What makes this role unique is the chance to work in a dynamic environment and apply your science as part of a team that has freedom to explore concepts to further push the boundaries of what is possible. Offering excellent growth in the role as the potential of their technology continues to be realised.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
For this opportunity, you will need demonstrable experience of downstream processing (DSP) in a commercial DNA, or related manufacturing environment. With strong molecular biology skills for the purification and assaying of DNA / nucleic acids with knowledge of experimental design and GMP regulations is advantageous but not essential. You will be educated in a relevant field to at least degree level, a higher level e.g. MSc or PhD is advantageous but not essential.
