Job Description

My client, a medical imaging pioneer based in Guildford, are seeking a Software Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, but profitable and global company, where you can have a real impact on the product portfolio.

The Role

Joining an established team, you will be involved across the spectrum of software maintenance and development for my client’s MRI scanners. This will include design, implementation and testing of upgrades to the visual appearance of operational software, managing and validating parameters describing the control, acquisition and processing schemes and communicating images for external processing and display. The existing application for the user interface is Visual Basic, with an upcoming release in C# +VB.NET.

You will work alongside hardware engineers to refine and test functionality and to implement embedded software for intelligent hardware (currently using C/C++ for ARM processor, FORTH for Harris/in-house RISC processor)

The Company

With their products being utilised in 24 countries globally, they are a market leader in the arena of veterinary MRI imaging. They are continuing to grow and wish to add two more Software Engineers to the team in 2019. Offering a friendly and supportive company environment and valued employee ethos, and with almost 20 years’ experience within this sector to draw upon, they are at the forefront of innovation.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have a scientific degree and a particular interest in medical imaging or MRI physics, having gained exposure to software development either in a medical commercial or academic research position. Existing applications are written in C/C++ /MFC with COM interfaces; thus, the successful candidate would need to be highly proficient in these languages. A knowledge of hardware interfacing would also be advantageous. To be successful in this role you will need to be motivated, hardworking and enjoy working in a small team. One where you will have the luxury of not only having your thoughts and ideas heard, but also the opportunity to learn from more established colleagues.

This is an opportunity to join a company and grow and develop from within, building a career that could lead onto team management and increased responsibility for the right individual.
