An innovative Biotech who are leading the way in the development and identification of the next generation of drug discovery technologies and biomarker identification are seeking a Programme Manager. The company is managing a collaboration made up of biotech, pharma, CRO’s and Charities with the aim to rejuvenate the discovery of drugs in psychiatric disease. The is a particular focus on unmet needs to identify and validate novel drug and biomarker targets for psychiatric disorders.
They are recruiting a Programme Manager with a scientific background and experience of managing research activities to deliver this new initiative. The successful person will be responsible for the delivery of the programme and the collaboration objects which are:
- Engage the relevant academic and commercial communities by providing funding opportunities and access to commercialisation expertise in psychiatry drug discovery.
- Identify novel targets and the strategy for these to treat psychiatric diseases.
- Select and Fund academic collaborative research projects.
- Validation of new drug targets and screening assays to commercial levels
- Develop a package of in vitro and in vivo data to enable ongoing drug discovery programmes for each target.
Your role will be to lead the operational delivery of the collaboration working with the parties drawn from different sectors to deliver programmes. As this is a new initiative you will be part of the set-up phase working with internal and external stakeholders to put in place the governance structure, finance, legal strategy to ensure the project is ready. To then launch this by working with the relevant collaborators along with internal PR, communications and marketing to raise its profile. Once launched you will lead the day to day management to ensure all collaborations are delivered using your project management and scientific expertise.
Desired Skills and Experience:
For the role of Programme Manager you will need to have a PhD in a relevant Biomedical science and a background of neuroscience with working knowledge if psychiatry disease research is an advantage but not essential. However, experience of drug dug discovery from either commercial or academic background is essential. You will need to have demonstrable experience in the delivery of large research programmes, preferably involving collaborators e.g. CRO’s, Academia, Charities, Pharma and Biotech
Please note the company are based in the Manchester area but this role can be remotely based e.g. in the London and South-East areas.
