I am partnering with a unique manufacturer based in Portsmouth whose products touch a wide range of different industries and provide positive outcomes for users on a global platform.
- Are you a Senior/Principal Human Factors Engineer looking for a new challenge?
- Do you want to champion usability from the very start of the design process?
- Do you have the communication, problem solving and leadership skills to make this happen?
Joining a small, but growing, team you will play a pivotal part in ensuring a user focused approach to design company wide, as part of an ongoing priority. In this role, you will be responsible for developing the tools and processes to identify user requirements that can then be tested and validated through rapid prototyping and feedback into the ongoing design process. This is a company that advocates collaboration and as such you will partner with multi-disciplinary colleagues to take the design to finished product. You will also be encouraged to try and fail often, in order to cover usability objectives and find solutions so that the end product maintains and surpasses the highest of quality standards.
This process will range from feasibility and conceptual understanding through the use of personas and work flow maps to gain an understanding of the problems facing the users; through prototyping and testing and validation. The successful candidate will be involved in human factors considerations relating to the product, its functionality, component parts, packaging, instruction for use and will advocate the important part of the user throughout it all.
The ideal candidate to take on this challenge will have an undergraduate degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics or Psychology and will have demonstrable career experience of applying these principles within a commercial product development environment. Due to the range of industries that my client’s products apply to they are open to hearing from applicants with experience from a variety of industries, including medical, healthcare, transport, aviation and defence. An ability to understand and communicate with other team members via sketches, CAD and model making is essential as is a fundamental comprehension of mechanical engineering and how it can be applied to solve design problems. Excellent knowledge of formative and summative studies is required alongside the ability to devise, plan and project manage usability research including recruitment strategies for participants.
In exchange for all of these skills my client is offering a competitive package, including a generous holiday allowance, pension, life assurance, employee assistance scheme and an onsite subsidised canteen. Relocation support is also on offer for the right candidate should it be required.
Add this to the opportunity to work with products that are used by close to every single person in Europe on a weekly basis. Human Factors is a priority and ongoing vision for them so it is really an exciting time to join and be part of this.
Please get in touch for a confidential chat about the role and all the things my client has to offer.
