As a Scientist, you will be contributing the design of experimental programmes using QBD principals to help design, execute, document and deliver Viral Vector projects. They work with a range of vectors such as Lentiviral, AAV, Adenoviral and Retroviral vectors. Using methods such as primary recovery filtration approaches, purification via chromatographic methods, and analytical techniques. As well as cell factory based expansion, and stirred tank bioreactor processing to develop upstream and downstream methods.
As this is a more senior position within the laboratories you will be working closely with senior members of the team to manage projects and you will often be working autonomously. You will be a point of contact for collaborators during the project plus other responsibilities e.g. keep up to date with the latest industry developments and be part of academic and knowledge sharing groups.

Desired Skills and Competencies:
As a Scientist, you will need to have a PhD or MSc with commercial experience of upstream and / or downstream bioprocessing of viral vectors, biologics, cell or gene therapies. If you have GMP experience of the manufacture of therapies or biologics or vectors this is advantageous to your application. Cell culture of mammalian or human cells is essential along with experience of using bioreactors. Experience of using AKTA technology or other chromatographic techniques is essential for this opportunity.
