Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-developing group whose focus is on the identification and translation of targets for prophylactic and therapeutic indications into vaccines based on their expanding pipeline.  Their technology is truly pioneering, they are a DNA R&D company who have developed a proprietary in vitro DNA amplification technology to produce synthetic DNA to be used in cutting edge therapeutic products.

 

Due to their continued growth, they have created a new Vaccine group to focus on their pipeline of potential targets for new therapies to realise their potential.  The group has both in house academic style research and external research in collaboration with both academia and industry.  Exploring the potential of their synthetic dbDNA technology in a range of therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines covering both discovery and preclinical development. 

 

They are recruiting for a Research Scientist to join the Vaccine Group with the responsibility for the discovery and evaluation of new vaccine candidates by developing cell based and PCR based assays.  You will be involved in both in house and collaborative research projects working with the Group Leader.  This is a key role between discovery and preclinical development, working with animal models to identify, then evaluate targets for their potential and to then develop these further.

 

Desired Skills and Competencies:

 

For this opportunity, you will need to have a PhD in a relevant area such as immunology or cell biology with experience of working in academia and / or industry.  You will need to have a good understanding of animal models and experience in the use of biological assays such as flow cytometry, qPCR and ELISA.  With a good understanding of immunology being essential, if you have knowledge of vaccine development then this is advantageous to your application.
