Job Description

A leading Synthetic Biology company based in Oxford are seeking a Senior Analytical Development Scientist to support their Process Development & Cell Line Development Groups.  The group’s purpose is to develop novel AAV, Lentiviral vectors and therapeutic to take them to manufacture using the company’s proprietary technologies.  The role of the Senior Analytical Scientist is to develop analytical processes and methodologies for the analysis of novel therapeutic proteins and viral vector-based therapeutics.
Company Summary:  The company are a leader in synthetic biology an­­­d are a specialised contract research organisation who are leading the way in streamlining the discovery and development of Biologics and in particular viral vectors for gene therapies.  They have leading capabilities in the development of automated CRISPR mammalian cell line engineering, antibody discovery, and engineering of viral delivery systems.  They achieve this by combining automation and bioinformatic approaches to design complex biological systems.  They are in a rapid phase of expansion due to the potential and demand for their technology and expertise.
Role Summary: This is a Senior role within the laboratories meaning you will be working with the Group Leaders from Cell Line Development and Process Development to design experimental programmes.  To then run these working autonomously with the support of a technician.  You will be based in the laboratories using techniques such as FACS, cell-based assays (including transduction assays), integrated qPCR for the analysis of therapeutic proteins, adeno – associated and lentiviral vectors.  Developing the methods to be used and then writing the protocols to be followed.  As this is a function that has been ear marked for growth you will have the opportunity to progress further by being a key part of this expansion.
Desired Skills and experience: You will ideally be educated to PhD level in a relevant subject (e.g. molecular biology) with experience of analytical techniques for the analysis of viral vectors.  With experience of developing methods for use in research including cell-based assays, transduction assays, qPCR, FACS, ELISA, SPR and QCM techniques.  If you have experience of working in an automated environment, then this is advantageous to your applications.
