Their mission is to streamline the discovery, development, and production of biologics, cell and gene therapies. They achieve this by utilizing platform technology that enables them to engineer DNA and combined with cutting edge bioinformatics and automated platforms that drive forward the design of complex discovery systems. For example, the development of optimised platforms for the discovery, engineering, and production of antibodies. As well as the development of improved viral vectors, packaging cell lines for lentivirus and rAAV manufacture, high throughout automated CRISPR cell line engineering and screening.
They are going through a continued period of expansion due to the demand of their services from industry as well as after entering some major longstanding partnerships. In addition to this they have other technologies under development after securing funding that will further enhance the portfolio of services they can offer.
The Group Leader Process Development is an exciting role leading a team of scientists who specialise in the development of upstream, downstream and analytical processes related to protein and viral vector manufacture. They use the company’s proprietary genetic systems and mammalian cells lines, working closely with the Protein and Viral Therapeutics teams. The ream uses up to date technology that includes AMBR15, DAS GIP STR bioreactors as well as TFF, AKTA chromatography, qPCR, SDS – Page, Elisa and cell based assays. The aim of the group is to develop cutting edge processes to address unmet needs and support the development of gene therapies and complex biopharmaceuticals.
The purpose of the Group Leader is to lead the day to day activities by directing the science and priorities in line with project and business goals. You will be working with external collaborators to further develop their technology, developing projects to then lead these through to completion, operating as a key point of contact. Alongside the external commercial work, you will be further developing internal platform developing working with other Group Leaders to drive their science forwards. The Process Development and Analytics area is earmarked for expansion, a process you will be leading working alongside the CSO. Not only implementing plans but adding your own expertise so there are as effective as possible and continue to drive the company forward to achieve business aims.
Desired Skills and Experience:
They are looking for a PhD or MSc qualified scientist with experience in a relevant area, preferably in a commercial environment. You will need to have experience of developing an optimizing scalable manufacturing processes with an understanding of lentivirus and AAV vectors. Experience of managing and developing a team of scientists is important for this opportunity as is a creative and innovative approach.
