Job Description

My client, an innovative design consultancy based in Bristol, have a unique opportunity for a highly experienced Human Factors Consultant to join their team. As a company, they provide support to clients from the consumer, industrial and medical device sectors; which is where this role will focus.
 
The Role
 
This opportunity would suit someone that has strong human factors experience and someone who can liaise credibly with external clients to sell and promote the services on offer, whilst displaying assurance and confidence to the existing team. For the right candidate, who can demonstrate all the above, my client would be willing to consider someone looking to evolve and develop as a team manager over time.
 
A focus of the role will be robust project and risk management for human factors study planning and design, through protocol writing to moderating studies and presenting recommendations to end clients based on the research conducted. This will include formative and summative studies during the development and verification stages, across the UK and US. Due to the nature of the position travel will be required and this is estimated at approximately 20%.
 
As a Senior member of the team a key responsibility will be to develop relationships with existing clients and provide support in pitching Human Factors capabilities, alongside the Business Development team, in a technical capacity.

Experience
 
Ideally you will have between 6 and 10 years commercial experience within medical device human factors applications, gained within a consultancy or end client manufacturer. This experience will need to include a strong understanding of HF application to the medical device industry and hands on moderating in this sector is essential. A thorough understanding of ethical approvals management, study moderation (observation and data capture), participant recruitment and error analysis will also be required. As the department lead you will oversee multiple projects simultaneously and as such will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills.
 
Your career to date will also need to include commercial understanding across a range of medical devices, including digital interfaces and considerations regarding packaging, instructions for use and labelling.
