Job Description

An Oxford based Biotech who are leading the way in the development of cutting-edge mammalian cell engineering technologies and enables them to accelerate the discovery, development and manufacture of cell & gene therapies.  Are now recruiting for a Gene Editing Scientist to join their flagship group applying CRISPR and gene editing techniques to answer some of the most complex questions in modern Biology.

 

As a company they apply their technology platforms and their innovative thinking to deliver solutions to the crucial and challenging questions in modern biology within gene therapy, antibody-based therapeutics and CRISPR / gene editing.  Their technology enables them to conduct precise mammalian cell engineering using their automated and informatics-based approaches means they can solve problems that others cannot to advance the delivery of new therapeutics.

 

The role of the Gene Editing Scientist is to work on both internal platform development and commercial projects, with the primary focus on their mammalian cell engineering pipeline.  This is an area of the business that has evolved rapidly over the last 18 months with this role contributing to is continued development. 

 

As a Scientist you will lead specific projects from the bench alongside providing mentorship to technicians and associates.  With the responsibility for liaising with collaborators on a daily basis and working as part of wider project teams on internal research projects.  They use advanced techniques such as CRISPR to develop tools for the engineering of mammalian cell lines.  Complemented by molecular and cell biology techniques in a multi-disciplinary cutting-edge environment.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

 

For this opportunity you will need to have a PhD in a relevant subject such as Molecular Biology, Genetics or Cell biology for example.  With experience in the use of gene editing tools including CRISPR, with expertise in primer design, nucleic acid extraction PCR and mammalian cell culture.  Additionally, experience of transfection. Stable cell line generation, flow cytometry, and cell sorting are advantageous to your application.
