A biotech based in central London who are leading the way in the commercialisation of cell & gene therapies are recruiting for a Metabolomics Scientist to join their Commercialisation Group. The purpose of the group is to take therapies across the translational gap into clinical trials by delivering solutions to problems encountered during this process. Metabolomics is becoming increasibgly important in the development of therapies which has led to the expansion of this team so the company is even better placed to commercialise therapies. To remain at the forefront of research into these life changing therapies.
The role of Metabolomics Scientist to work across their whole portfolio of R&D projects to further enhance their emerging metabolomics capabilities. You will provide expertise in this area applying proteomic and metabolomic approaches to accelerate the development of both cell and gene therapies. This role is also part of the wider team focusing on the integration of process analytical technologies to develop the next generation of manufacturing platforms.
As this is new area for the company you will be involved in the development of new capabilities and enhancement of existing ones using your expertise. For example, the development of an LCMS platform by developing libraries for the discovery of metabolomic and proteomic biomarkers. Plus, the development, validation and quantification of cutting-edge mass spec assay development for mechanistic, prognostic, and diagnostic analysis of biological matrices. You will also apply metabolomic knowledge to datasets for the characterisation and optimization of cell culture processes.

Desired Skills and Competencies:
As a Scientist, you will need to have a PhD or MSc in a relevant life science with a focus on metabolomics and /or proteomics in combination with experience of analytical biochemistry / chemistry and mass spectrometry applications. With experience of developing analytical methods and troubleshooting methods and the associated complex data analysis. You will need to have experience in the analysis of omics based datasets and associated mass spec software – for example MATLAB, spotfire, R etc.
