Role Purpose:

The role of Metabolomics Scientist to work across their whole portfolio of R&D projects to further enhance their emerging metabolomics capabilities.  You will provide expertise in this area applying proteomic and metabolomic approaches to accelerate the development of both cell and gene therapies.  This role is also part of the wider team focusing on the integration of process analytical technologies to develop the next generation of manufacturing platforms.

As this is new area for the company you will be involved in the development of new capabilities and enhancement of existing ones using your expertise.  For example, the development of an LCMS platform by developing libraries for the discovery of metabolomic and proteomic biomarkers.  Plus, the development, validation and quantification of cutting-edge mass spec assay development for mechanistic, prognostic, and diagnostic analysis of biological matrices.  You will also apply metabolomic knowledge to datasets for the characterisation and optimization of cell culture processes.

Due to the scope of this role and the emergence of the metabolomic function and its importance to their work.  Makes this is an excellent opportunity to take on a role where you can apply your expertise in a role with excellent career progression.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

As a Scientist, you will need to have a PhD or MSc in a relevant life science with a focus on metabolomics and /or proteomics in combination with experience of analytical biochemistry / chemistry and mass spectrometry applications.  With experience of developing analytical methods and troubleshooting methods and the associated complex data analysis.  You will need to have experience in the analysis of omics based datasets and associated mass spec software – for example MATLAB, spotfire, R etc.

Company Overview:

The company are a centre of excellence with the purpose to advance and accelerate the growth and development of the UK Cell & Gene Therapy sector.  They do this by collaborating with both academia and industry to take innovative therapies successfully across the translational gap to the clinic and then through clinical trials to launch.  They offer leading edge capabilities in process development, manufacturing in their state-of-the-art laboratories as well as expertise in regulatory, clinical, market access and health economics.  Their long-term objective is to make the UK the place to come to commercialise therapies, by being the most compelling choice to their international partners.  They do not have a set therapeutic area, but a large part of their focus is on immuno– oncology programmes.  They work in a very and dynamic forward-thinking way looking to utilise the latest technologies enable them to remain at the forefront of research into this exciting sector that has great potential.
