Are you an experienced Analytical Chemist with expertise in HPLC, GC and other techniques, gained in a commercial environment? Would it suit you to work over the weekend, from Friday to Monday, 8am – 4pm? Then read on!!

A leading Biopharmaceutical company in Worthing, West Sussex is creating a brand new QC team to work over the weekend (Friday -Monday) to complement their existing Monday – Friday team. This has led to this new permanent role in the Chemistry lab, where you will undertake a range of routine and non-routine QC work, relating to product stability and testing the chemistry of proteins within a vaccine development and production environment.

Even though you are working 4 days a week, not the usual 5, you will be paid the equivalent of a full-time salary, which includes 25% weekend shift allowance. The Role
Your routine duties will include testing a wide variety of stability samples, raw materials and finished products. You will use different chromatographic techniques such as HPLC and GC and will be responsible for maintaining and validating records on assay sheets and the LIMS system. You will assist in the maintenance and optimisation of lab equipment and will ensure that reagent stocks are ordered and maintained efficiently. As a Level III Scientist, you will take ownership of improvement projects, alongside being responsible for presenting data to other departments, troubleshooting equipment and processes, raise and investigate Non – Conformances and promoting a positive and collaborative team culture.

The successful candidate will have a strong Chemistry education (BSc or MSc / MChem preferred), backed with experience gained in a commercial laboratory. Pharmaceutical QC experience, following GLP / GMP regulations, would be a strong advantage, though candidates will be considered from other settings such as Food, Cosmetics, Diagnostics or Medical Device testing. Knowledge of protein analysis and associated pharmacopeia would be a strong advantage and raising and investigating non – conformances. You must have a good understanding of chromatography techniques like HPLC and GC and will need to have the ambition to progress a long-term career in the lab. You will need to have excellent communication skills, a positive and supportive attitude and a real desire to further your knowledge within a unique, ever-evolving Pharmaceutical company.
