As a company they are leading the way in the application of cell engineering using CRIPSR, automation and bioinformatics in the development of viral vectors and their manufacture for gene therapy.  As well as automated cell engineering processes, anti-body discovery and therapeutic protein manufacturing.

They are seeking a Senior Scientist who can lead the development of their CHO based cell line development platforms for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins.  This is an area that the company is setting up to offer as a new service to complement their existing services.  You will be working with the Director with the responsibility for conducting the hands-on laboratory work to develop the platform, implement it and then build a team that you will lead.

The focus on the research is to develop cell lines for protein manufacture including the optimisation of cell growth conditions, media, the genetic manipulation of cells lines, and culture using CHO cells.  The purpose of this is to develop SOP’s for the development of cell lines for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins for commercial partners. Using your expertise of developing cell lines by optimising genetics constructs for protein expression, knowledge of the methodologies for optimising cell growth conditions and cell culture to generate suspended, stable and clonal lines.

Desired Skills and Experience:
They are looking for a PhD qualified scientist with experience in the development of CHO cell lines that can be used for the manufacture of therapeutic proteins.  You will need to have a strong understanding of the methodologies for optimisation of cell growth conditions, optimising genetic constructs for protein expression, genetic manipulation of cell line ss and product quality attributes.  You will need to be familiar at handling suspended, cell lines that includes generating stable clonal lines.   You will need to have experience of Flow Cytometry / FACS and PCR.
