We are looking for an innovative and ambitious individual with a higher degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or similar, to undertake this newly-created role and manage international VLP vendors. You will join a highly successful vaccine company who have traditionally sourced the proteins for their vaccines from the allergen source, and who are starting to shift to a synthetic route, using recombinant proteins or VLPs, to increase patient safety and effectiveness of drug production.
This is a permanent role, based near Brighton on the Sussex coast. The company is a fast-growing, pioneering organisation, offering excellent salary and benefits and a genuinely exciting career path.
We are seeking a Formulation Manager who can lead the process development of manufacturing methods for production as the immunotherapies progress to first in man trials. For this they are working on an outsourced model where you will be managing process development and tech transfer projects, and the relationships with the contract organisations. You will use your scientific expertise of E.coli-based expression systems for recombinant protein or virus like particles to deliver the projects on time. There is one product at present but this will be the first of many, as others are currently under the early stages of development.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of a new direction for this company, who are market leading, to complement their existing technology to keep them ahead of their competition.
A pioneering UK-based Pharmaceutical company specialising in the development and production of injectable and oral dose vaccines and diagnostic kits for patients who suffer from allergies. They have developed an innovative approach to immunotherapy which will be of particular interest to someone with a passion for scientific innovation. There are around 300 employees in Worthing, West Sussex, and the company has an excellent reputation for its welcoming atmosphere, pioneering science and ongoing development opportunities.
The successful candidate will ideally have a degree (or higher) in a relevant life science e.g. Molecular Biology or Cell Biology. You will need to have process development experience for the formulation of recombinant protein expression systems using E.coli. If you have experience of managing outsourced research this is advantageous to your experience but is not essential. If you have experience of working with virus like particles (VLPs) then this is advantageous, but not essential. For this role you do not need to have direct immunotherapy experience, as expertise in other areas is also valid e.g. antibodies or biologics.
