The Opportunity : We are seeking a Formulation Manager who can lead the process development of manufacturing methods for production as the immunotherapies progress to first in man trials. For this they are working on an outsourced model where you will be managing process development and tech transfer projects, and the relationships with the contract organisations. You will use your scientific expertise of E.coli-based expression systems for recombinant protein or virus like particles to deliver the projects on time. There is one product at present but this will be the first of many, as others are currently under the early stages of development.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of a new direction for this company, who are market leading, to complement their existing technology to keep them ahead of their competition.
The Company : A pioneering UK-based Pharmaceutical company specialising in the development and production of injectable and oral dose vaccines and diagnostic kits for patients who suffer from allergies. They have developed an innovative approach to immunotherapy which will be of particular interest to someone with a passion for scientific innovation. There are around 300 employees in Worthing, West Sussex, and the company has an excellent reputation for its welcoming atmosphere, pioneering science and ongoing development opportunities.
Experience: The successful candidate will ideally have a degree (or higher) in a relevant life science e.g. Molecular Biology or Cell Biology. You will need to have process development experience for the formulation of recombinant protein expression systems using E.coli. If you have experience of managing outsourced research this is advantageous to your experience but is not essential. If you have experience of working with virus like particles (VLPs) then this is advantageous, but not essential. For this role you do not need to have direct immunotherapy experience, as expertise in other areas is also valid e.g. antibodies or biologics.
