Job Description

A Stevenage-based Biotech who are leading the way in the development of cutting-edge Cell & Gene Therapies is recruiting for an Engineering Project Manager.  The Stevenage site is a GMP manufacturing facility that has recently expanded and they are new seeking someone to manage projects from end to end such as validation, continuous improvement and facilities.

The Role

The purpose of the Engineering Project Manager position is to lead projects from concept, resource planning, Cap Ex request, through to completion.  The projects are in collaboration with the clients who occupy clean room suites provided by the company which are used for the manufacture of advanced therapies in compliance to GMP.

You will be taking the lead of projects and work closely with collaborators with the responsibility for their compliance, budgets, and delivery.  Taking ownership of Cap – Ex requests, developing business cases, capital project proposals as well for example.  The types of projects are linked to the set up of new clean room suites, modification, and improvement of the facility.  Such as validation, facilities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience

You will need to have experience of working in GMP environment, preferably within a biologic, biopharmaceutical, ATMP, cell / gene therapy, or pharmaceutical manufacture. You will require proven engineering experience for hard and / or soft services, with the ability to manage projects in a similar environment with a degree in life science, engineering or related discipline.

The Company

The company are a centre of excellence that is at the forefront of creating a viable and sustainable cell and gene therapy industry.  Their headquarters are in central London where they have built a leading multidisciplinary team that has the ability to take a therapy from concept through the development cycle to the market.  They have constructed a purpose-built manufacturing centre which opened at the end of 2017 and immediately after opening additional funding was allocated for the centre to be doubled in size due to the demand for their services.  This currently consists of 12 (recently completed) clean room suites out for collaborators to use to manufacture advanced therapies for use in clinical trials.
