Based in the busy Development team, which has close links to QC, QA, Stability, Regulatory Affairs and GMP Production, you will work in a range of projects to develop, validate, troubleshoot and support various biochemical and chemical assays, generate and analyse data, troubleshoot ongoing issues and ensure full compliance to GMP. You will work with ELISA, HPLC, GC (and other chromatographic methods), SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and other methods; and you will be trained on methods you have not encountered before.
You will handle complex scientific data in order to produce clear, detailed reports for internal teams and healthcare authorities. You will also support a variety of ongoing projects relating to method transfer and biochemical test development, ultimately making drug products more stable, efficient and safe for the patient.
You will interact closely with other departments, such as QC, so it is essential that you have strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside scientists at different levels. This is a varied role that requires someone with a proactive, problem-solving approach to your work and the ability to manage your own time.
The intention is for you to be based full-time in the company’s site in Worthing, West Sussex (around 80% in the lab and 20% in the office) though due to the Covid situation some flexibility is offered to undertake some days from home.

The successful candidate will have a Biochemistry or Chemistry degree / higher degree, together with some significant experience in a commercial GMP / GLP lab environment (ideally in a Pharmaceutical / Biopharmaceutical company).
You must have strong data analysis and manipulation experience, with the ability to use a variety of statistical packages (e.g. Excel) and it is essential that you understand assay development and validation processes. You must have some knowledge of biochemical techniques (ELISA, Western Blotting, SDS-PAGE etc) and / or chemistry techniques (HPLC, GC, LC/MS etc). Good communication and work planning skills are essential.
