Are you a highly experienced Manufacturing professional, with expert knowledge of GMP and a background in the production of Biologics – or, even better, T-Cells? Do you have inspirational leadership qualities and a proactive approach to driving process improvements and operational efficiency? Have you been involved in the management of operations over different shifts?

A new role has arisen for an Associate Director, Cell Manufacturing, to join a pioneering cell therapy company in Stevenage, Herts who produce life-changing cancer treatments. We are looking for an astute individual who enjoys making strategic decisions, using Lean methodologies to implement improvements, and helping other people develop their personal and professional skills. You will also have input into the development of a new facility which is due to open next year.

This is a permanent position, paying an excellent salary, bonus and benefits (to discuss on application). You will be based primarily in Stevenage, though may need to visit other sites on occasion.

The Role

As Associate Director, Cell Manufacturing, you will have a broad position which includes:

  • Overseeing the management of day-to-day cell manufacturing operations within a 7-day working pattern (some teams work Sun-Wed, some Wed-Sat; and there is a mix of early and late shifts)
  • Direct line management of Production Managers, each of whom has a team of around 7-8
  • Maintaining staff / equipment capacity to support clinical and commercial patient demand
  • Training and development planning for operational staff
  • Reporting on operational trends and recommending / implementing changes to continually improve work productivity and processes
  • Working in close partnership with Quality, MSAT, Engineering, Training, OPEX, and Supply Chain groups

This is a fantastic career opportunity for an ambitious leader who is passionate about undertaking a senior role within a pioneering cell therapy company.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience within the production of T-Cells would be excellent, though manufacturing of Biologics / Biopharmaceuticals will still be highly valuable
  • Expert knowledge of GMP, as well as Lean methodologies (lean sigma green belt preferred)
  • The ability to see and develop the potential in others
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in building close partnerships with different departments
  • Astute awareness of business processes
  • Understanding of how to get the best out of different shift-based teams

Full details will be provided on application. This is a permanent role in Stevenage, typically working 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
