About The Role...

They are in search of a passionate & dynamic automation leader with experience in laboratory automation and drug discovery workflows to join their team as an Automation Lead. In this role, you will lead work in developing, optimizing, and maintaining cutting edge laboratory automation for pre-clinical drug discovery.

What You’ll Do…


  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of laboratory automation platforms used for liquid handling, small molecule purification, high throughput screening, ADME assays, compound handling and functional screening.
  • Develop the automation skills of their scientific staff.
  • Identify areas of innovation and lead technology development projects in laboratory automation
  • Work with scientific teams to design and carry out (or oversee) automation runs to support therapeutics discovery
  • Lead or participate in cross functional teams (system integrators, contractors, end users) to develop the design requirement specifications, test plans and protocols for Integrated Automation Systems
  • Lead or perform Process Automation System Administration activities.
  • Lead or manage automation systems capital projects
What You Bring…


  • BS in Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Engineering or related life sciences field
  • 7+ years in scientific or automation role within biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven track record and expertise in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing on resource and operational plans to deliver on company needs
  • Solid understanding of equipment/hardware/software testing and associated protocols and lifecycle documentation requirements for preclinical drug discovery workflows
  • Understanding of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures.
  • Some coding experience is highly preferred (python)
  • Strong leadership skills in managing stakeholders and influencing co-workers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills including oral and formal presentations.
  • Strong project management skills in defining and executing automation related projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems from field element up through operator interfaces and databases is preferred.
