Director of Project Management required for a fantastic Biotechnology client in Philadelphia who focus on discovery and development of disease-modifying therapies with the power of protein degradation. The company is continuously growing and has recently secured $200million of funding in addition to investment from its parent company.
 
The Director of Project Management will be accountable for the cross-functional execution of one or more integrated program plans within Discovery and Early Development. As well as being responsible for supporting Project Leads with planning and execution, while driving cross-functional coordination and communication, developing comprehensive risk identification and mitigation strategies to ensure the projects plans are successfully executed within approved timelines and budget. The individual will be both strategic and tactical and can move at a fast pace all while ensuring the timeliness of the project deliverables. They will be knowledgeable of early-stage programs and will have the aptitude to be one step ahead of the project to ensure it is moving along.
 
On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package which includes an annual bonus and private equity. The position also offers hybrid working with 2/3 days a week in the office. For someone who may have to relocate for this role, other bonuses can be incorporated into the package.
 
Responsibilities for the Director of Project Management include:
 
  • Support the project team to execute the project strategy and achieve all project milestones
  • Drive alignment, collaboration, accountability, and milestone achievement within project team
  • Proactively identify project risks and ensure mitigation plans are implemented
  • Ensure all decisions made by project team as assessed for their impact on the current plan, budget, and available resources, and communicate decisions as appropriate
  • Identify and communicate interdependencies and downstream impacts of strategic decisions
  • Facilitate decision-making, collaboration and problem-solving to ensure project success
  • Maintain high-level and detailed timelines with input from functional leads, ensuring that functional timelines are aligned with project and study timelines
  • Track progress of all functional areas against project timeline and budget, and raises issue appropriately, participate in resolution and update timelines as necessary
  • Contribute to budgetary planning and expense forecasting
  • Support functional sub-teams to assure that functional deliverables are completed on time, on budget and according to quality standards
  • Coordinate the compilation of project documents and ensure transparency across the project team
  • Responsible for the conduct and deliverables of Project Team meetings
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports and ad hoc reports as required
 
Required skillset for the suitable individual:
 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in life science industry (biotechnology or pharmaceutical) with demonstrated experience managing or influencing cross-functional drug discovery project teams
  • Excellent project management skills with a results-driven orientation
  • Demonstrated agility and ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time with strong attention to detail, while also understanding high-level strategy
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including an ability to integrate and succinctly summarize information and effectively tailor messages to audience
  • Ability to build relationships with team members
  • Possess drug development expertise with solid understanding of project interdependencies and disease content to contribute to strategic discussions
  • Ability to lead development of critical path analyses and support scenario planning to achieve goals/timelines
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with ability to resolve conflict internally and externally across multiple stakeholders
  • Effectively utilize project management tools, including systems (MS Project, Excel, SharePoint)
