I have had an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading medical consultancy companies in Bristol. They are at the forefront of technology and are currently looking for an Electronics Engineer that will be responsible for working on a range of complex medical devices. This shall be achieved by coordinating work through small teams of in-house engineers.
 
Responsibilities
We are looking for an Electronics Engineer seeking to apply their expanding electronics expertise to the development of new products and technologies. Our work is diverse and will involve everything from early stage research into the latest technologies to delivery of final products as part of a multidisciplinary product development team.
Collaboration is vital to how we work, as is the specific skill that each individual in our team brings. You will be a team-player, passionate about electronics, science and technology. You’ll enjoy problem-solving and working in a fast-paced, varied consultancy environment. We need you to feel confident when discussing project objectives and challenges with all stakeholders, including clients. Ideally you will have 5 years’ experience in an electronics development role.
 
Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies
  • A 2:1 Masters degree or above in Electronic Engineering or associated course
    • A good understanding of electronics first principles and be comfortable performing basic hand calculations to check designs
    • Knowledge of digital electronics principles, 8-bit/32-bit ARM micro-controllers, FPGAs etc
    • Knowledge of communication interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet etc.)
    • An understanding of good practice in PCB layout
    • Experience with low power circuit design
    • Experience with bench testing and de-bugging electronic assemblies
    • Confidence and authority when presenting work to others
    • Great people skills and ability to collaborate in project teams
    • Commercial awareness and be able to manage your time within defined timescales
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment
    • Medical device development experience
    • Experience designing and testing for compliance, CE/FCC, EMC, radio, safety etc
    • Experience developing systems from concept to design for manufacture
    • Experience conducting FMEAs
    • Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
    • Experience developing embedded software (C/C++)
This is a full-time role based in our beautiful Bristol HQ, however a proportion of the work may be conducted while working from home if that suits you. The role may also involve some travel to client sites for sales and project activity.
