Equipment Technician
Based in Charnwood

A leading CMO company based in Charnwood is looking for an Equipment Technician to perform routine scheduled maintenance and calibration of scientific analytical equipment. The post holder will also troubleshoot scientific analytical equipment faults/breakdowns and support the validation of new scientific analytical equipment.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Calibrate and maintain the laboratory equipment according to internal procedures and conduct additional maintenance as required
  • Responding to breakdowns in line with departmental turnaround times for repair
  • Assist and / or carry out data integrity assessments within the Charnwood site and the wider Pharma Services business
  • Accurately record and report to a high standard the completion of calibration and maintenance tasks
  • Investigate equipment failures as instructed
  • Liaise with external contractors to ensure timely completion of external calibrations and review / approval of contractor supplied documentation
  • Maintain the pharmaceutical environment within the laboratory in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Review results of testing carried out by other Equipment Technicians and external contractors
  • Assist in maintaining and creation of documentation within the laboratory
  • Assist in the validation of new scientific analytical equipment
 
Required Essential:
  • A-Levels (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering or Mathematics
  • Extensive experience in calibrating or repairing scientific analytical equipment, e.g., HPLC/UPLC’s
  • Significant experience in Gas Chromatography and Karl Fischer troubleshooting & Repair
  • Extensive Experience Diagnosing & Troubleshooting instrument faults
  • Experience of working in a GMP/Laboratory environment
  • Experience with laboratory CDS
 
Desirable Requirements:
  • BSc (or equivalent) in a Science Subject or an Engineering Subject
  • Experience of liaising with external contractors
  • Experience calibrating and troubleshooting Waters, Agilent and Shimadzu HPLC/UPLC’s GC Agilent 7890 Metrohm KF
  • Experience with Empower
  • Ability to write SOP’s and other quality documentation
  • Proven ability to carry out validation activities
  • Previous experience of carrying out data integrity assessments
