A Programme Manager is required to join a fantastic Cell & Gene Therapy company based in central London. They aim to advance the growth of the UK cell and gene therapy industry, by bridging the gap between scientific research and full-scale commercialization. They work with partners in academia and industry to ensure these life-changing therapies can be developed for use in health services throughout the world.
 
The Programme Manager will play a pivotal role, being highly visible to the executive and the senior management team, collaboratively generating project plans and budgets, and delivering upon these structured development programmes for promising cell therapy technologies. The role will report directly to the Head of Programme Delivery. This will be a highly visible role across the company and will be able to impact substantially the future success of the organisation.
 
The Programme Manager will need to be a high calibre individual who is passionate about helping to develop a sustainable Cell and Gene Therapy Sector in the UK and wants to play a pivotal role in delivering new therapies to the clinic.

A successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the assigned projects and programmes, and in addition, will:
  • Work closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of project outputs to schedule and within budget.
  • Develop an understanding of transaction types (including contractual relationships and handling of intellectual property) undertaken by the biotechnology industry and specifically the company.
  • Where appropriate, provide input during the project acquisition phase on development of transaction structures, technical milestones, legal and financial terms.
  • Develop detailed work breakdown structures and project plans to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes, working closely with clients, senior managers and the executive team.
  • Set budgets for programmes and agree costs with relevant senior managers.
  • Identify appropriate knowledge resource within and external to generate coherent project plans.
  • Identify and coordinate suitable resource to deliver on projects.
  • Lead high performing, collaborative teams including both internal and external team members to deliver and adapt to situations to ensure correct project delivery.
  • High level of communication to all stakeholders; within project team, the executive and to clients
 
Key Accountabilities will include:
  • Write detailed technical programme of works in collaboration with internal disciplinary experts, scope out resource needs, compile budgets and spend forecasts.
  • Contribute to grant applications, both singularly and within consortia.
  • Ensure delivery of projects through detailed project planning, problem solving and collaborative coordinated teamwork to deliver on milestones to time, quality, and budget.
  • Clear reporting to stakeholders
  • Negotiation, in conjunction with colleagues, of collaborative and service contracts
  • Resolve problems and communicate well.
 
The Programme Manager will have the following skillset / experience:
  • Educated to a higher Degree level in a life sciences subject.
  • Broad scientific and commercial technical expertise with ability to apply knowledge to problem solving.
  • Post-doctoral or employment experience within the cell and gene therapy sector
  • Experience of project management through working in either: biotech, biopharma, CMO, CRO, clinical trials or supply chain.
  • A flexible approach to work assignments. An ability to manage multiple and varied tasks and to prioritise the workload whilst maintaining attention to details.
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver projects to time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills aligned with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers, senior managers, and project team members.
  • Flexible and pragmatic, able to learn quickly and respond to project needs and priorities.
  • The ability to work independently and to be able to take the initiative when completing tasks.
