A Project Manager is required to join a leading partner in the pharmaceutical industry. They work with partners to address the technical and commercial challenges associated with the development of cutting-edge treatments for patients worldwide.
 
This individual will have the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative team as a Project Manager on a 12-month contract. Working within a dynamic team, the Project Manager will need experience in management of overall projects and leading multifunctional teams to deliver to a portfolio of projects within life science, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
 
The Project Manager will be working in a variety of scientific, corporate services teams to interface with a wide range of representatives across the organization as well as external customers. This role ensures that assigned projects are executed on time, within budget, and to agreed quality parameters.
 
On offer for the Project Manager is a highly competitive rate from £35.00/hour - £50.00/hour depending on experience. The role is based in Swindon but offers the option of hybrid working. There is also full flexibility on remote working for a Project Manager who meets all the essential criteria. Travel to customer and project team meetings in Swindon may be required.
 
 
Key responsibilities of the Project Manager:
 
  • Deliver a variety of scientific, corporate services and adoption projects within the project management portfolio, as required through detailed project planning, problem solving and collaborative coordinated teamwork to deliver on milestones to time, quality and budget
  • Managing the relationships and working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s).
  • Responsible as the main point of customer contact for project related activities and involves managing the execution of the customer’s requirements as per an agreed upon program of activities.
  • Managing the day-to-day operational activities, Tracking progress of project activities to ensure key development milestones agreed upon with customer are achieved and ensure program proceeds based on the agreed upon timeline.
  • Responsible for the overall project plan and all relevant workstreams, including developing and agreeing it with all the relevant internal and external stakeholders, identifying and managing dependencies and risks and escalating to the Programme Manager and Sponsor/Lead.
  • Communicate project status, issues, risks and mitigation plans to all appropriate stakeholders on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Track and update project budgets, milestones and payments.
 
Required experience to be a successful candidate:
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience of managing large scale projects in pharmaceutics, biotechnology, healthcare or relevant supporting industry (CROs, CDMOs, etc.)
  • Experience managing projects using recognized PM methodology e.g. PMP, MS Project, and LSS principles.
  • Experience managing projects in the pharmaceutical industry highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated clear leadership capability, with experience in business development and maintenance providing exceptional skills in customer service.
  • Proven ability to consistently deliver projects to time, cost and quality standards
  • Proven ability to engage constructively with colleagues at all levels across different departments to deliver objectives
  • Experience of motivating & developing teams
  • Budget management experience
 
Knowledge / Skills / Competencies required:
  • Exceptional skills in customer service/focus.
  • Proficiency in independent thought and reasoning ability.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise, coherent, and professional manner.
  • Ability to negotiate difficult issues in a well thought out and professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Travel to customer and project team meetings may be required.
  • Be accessible to laboratory and pilot/manufacturing plant area(s) and to use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.
  • Good understanding and application of Project Management principles, concepts, practices and standards; PRINCE2 certification a plus
 
Education / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in BSc/MScBEng/MEng Chemistry/Pharmacy/Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • PMP Certified is a preferred.
  • Operational Excellence Black Belt/Green Belt preferred.
