Their aim is to deliver breakthroughs first, so that these life changing therapies reach patients faster. Their discovery technologies are aimed at accelerating the development of CAR – T, CRISPR, DNA Plasmid, and Capsid R&D programmes. Their bio manufacturing expertise accelerates the development of scalable manufacture of lentiviral, AAV or adenoviral based therapeutics.

They are seeking a Scientist to join their Plasmid Engineering and Production team which is expanding due to the demand for their services with an increased focus on internal R&D projects. As a Scientist you will be more senior in the laboratories with influence on the design of experimental programmes, using your science to direct research and mentor more junior team members.

The focus of the role is focusing on plasmid vector engineering using advanced and standard cloning techniques for internal R&D and commercial projects. The core responsibilities are:

  • Design and advise on the best molecular cloning strategy, then ensure these are executed to a high standard.
  • Recommend ways to optimise procedures and processes including accurate and data integrity.
  • Apply cloning techniques such as golden gate, gibson assembly, PCR, restriction digestion, agarose gel electrophoresis, and DNA ligations for example
  • Analyse and troubleshoot experiments
  • Manage multiple projects at any time collaborating with colleagues in other teams.
  • Mentor more junior members of the team including the training & development.
  • Keep up to date with scientific literature and developments in the field.
