A Senior Scientist is required to join a fantastic Cell and Gene Therapy company in Central London who are aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and full-scale commercialization. They work with partners in academia and industry to ensure these life-changing therapies can be
developed for use in health services throughout the world.
 
The Senior Scientist will be supporting the development of novel cell and gene therapy medicinal products for multiple clients and collaborators. Working in multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivery of varied projects, applying in-depth technical expertise to accelerate the clinical translation of ATMPs.
 
The successful Senior Scientist will predominantly work to support commercialisation of research from academic groups and/or early university spin-out companies through the design and execution of development plans going from concept to clinic. They will play a key role within highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams to help academic groups and/or early university spin-out companies’ secure development funding.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Scientist
As a Senior Scientist you will work closely with other members of the small commercialisation of research team which includes industry specialists, preclinical medicines development experts, bioprocessing, patent, regulatory and heath economics advisors. The scope of the role will vary depending upon the nature of the portfolio but typically will involve:
  • Working closely with internal and external experts conduct due diligence on the scientific rationale and tractability of potential ATMP assets
  • Production, delivery and review of high-quality reports and presentations to fulfil agreed deliverables for assigned projects
  • Preparation of internal briefing and governance documents for review by the leadership team
  • To provide scientific input into the development of medicines development strategies and the arising development plans
  • Work with your network and a multidisciplinary team to deliver the medicines development in line with cost, time and agreed strategy
  • To Stay abreast with developments in the ATMP field and maintain and suitable databases to help guide decision making and build business cases
 
Experience required for the Senior Scientist:
  • PhD plus 3+ years’ industrial experience or BSc with 7+ years industrial experience in the life sciences or bioengineering field or equivalent experience/qualifications.
  • Understanding of the drug development process from concept to commercialisation is essential
  • Experience in independently preparing and delivering high quality written documents is essential
  • Hands-on experience in the discovery and/or development of ATMP’s within an industry setting is required
  • Demonstrable experience conducting primary and secondary research to support due diligence and/or gap analyses is required
  • Effective engagement with stakeholders within academic and industry settings is highly desirable
  • Prior exposure to discovery and/or development of both cell and gene therapies is highly desirable
  • Experience or know-how in translating academic research into investable opportunities is desirable
  • Experience preparing and delivering high quality proposals for funding and/or investment would be advantageous
  • Experience or understanding of working with CMC regulations to manufacture biologics and/or ATMPs would be advantageous.
