Overview:

James Hume is recruiting for someone with experience of contract management within the life science or academic sectors to join this Biotech who are at the cutting edge of Cell & Gene Therapy research.  The company are a centre of excellence that is leading the way in the development of cell & gene therapies by providing the multi - disciplinary expertise needed to bring these to the market.  Their head offices are in Central London where this role will be based with optional days at their Stevenage site depending on your situation.

The company are a centre of excellence that is at the forefront of creating a viable and sustainable cell and gene therapy industry in the UK by bridging the gap between science and commercialisation.  Their headquarters are in central London where they have built a sector leading multidisciplinary team that has the ability to take a therapy from concept through the development cycle to the market.  They offer cutting edge technology and innovation to support companies take their products to clinical trials by providing process development, manufacturing, regulatory, health economics, and market access expertise.  To enable those that they collaborate with to overcome the issues faced during commercialisation and bring leading edge therapies to the market.  This is proving very successful based on the successes in taking multiple therapies to the latter stages of clinical trials and the increasing demand for their services.

The Opportunity:

The purpose of the Contracts Manager is to advise and lead colleagues in a wide range of contractual and legal matters on a wide range of agreements including, R&D Collaboration Agreements, Clinical Trial Site Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements and IP related matters for example. 

You will be working with their In-House Lawyer who will be leading the preparation of precedent documents and legal reviews with their external legal teams.  Enabling on you to focus on negotiations to ensure that the interests of the company are protected and that the contractual obligations can be met.  This includes liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders so that the objectives of the business are reflected in an achieved in the agreements.  If the view of the counter party differs it will be your responsibility to resolve this to achieve a mutually beneficial solution. 

In addition to the negotiation of agreements you will also handle enquiries from relevant stakeholders using your working knowledge of these agreements.  As well as the ability to produce first drafts and counter proposals that are legally accurate.  Plus collaborate with the In House Lawyer to continue to develop their strategy going forward, best practice and compliance to obligations under the agreements. 

Desired Skills and Competencies:

For this opportunity you will be ideally educated to at least BSc level in a business or life science or an LLB with experience of working in a similar position where you have led the negotiations of contracts, their drafting, review and to provide advice on where necessary.  Ideally you will have some recent experience or currently be in a similar role within biotech / life sciences / academic sectors handling similar contracts.  The ability to act proactively to address matters as they arise is highly desired in this role.
