Next Phase (and its previous incarnation as SLS Services) has worked with a leading Biopharmaceutical company in West Sussex since 2006. The company in question has around 270 staff and Next Phase has placed over 190 individuals in a mixture of permanent and temporary positions with them to date. While not formally the sole supplier, Next Phase is the technical agency of choice and has successfully filled roles in wide-ranging disciplines including Development, QA/QC, Stability, Production Planning, Manufacturing Management and Support, Marketing and Regulatory Affairs. The company manufactures their products (from patient-specific to bulk manufacture) across a range of different clean rooms including sterile and non sterile. They are not based in a "Pharmaceutical hot spot”, so a significant number of individuals who have been placed with them have had to relocate to the West Sussex area. Next Phase provide an information pack to all prospective ‘relocators’ to help them learn more about the South Coast of the UK, including up-to-date information about cost of living in West Sussex, and the opportunities that will be available to them and their families if they move to the area.
Case Study 2:
We have been working with an innovative Regenerative Medicine business in London for over 4 years, supporting their growth across scientific areas (process development, analytical development, manufacture, data scientists and viral vector industrialisation team) as well as within the programme management, laboratory support and finance departments. They are currently undergoing expansion, with the recent opening of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, alongside the continued demand for their services. This has led to an increase in the volume of recruitment across scientific, quality, engineering and programme management areas. Naturally candidates with these skill sets (especially in Cell & Gene Therapies) are in demand, which often leads to challenges in finding and engaging suitable candidates. In addition to this is their specific requirements in conjunction with their high standards often narrows the pool of candidates further. Next Phase has developed a network of individuals within micro-specialist technical areas (including Programme Managers, Engineers and Data Scientists), giving us access to candidates with highly sought-after skills and a desire to be at the forefront of the industry.
