The Cloud Engineer will work as part of a small and focused team that manages the virtual platform, providing third line support to live systems, applications and transactional e-commerce websites.
Contributing to Cloud-based system design and supporting and maintaining Amazon Web Services, the Cloud Platform Engineer will be specifically responsible for the following:
- Responsible for supporting the company’s selling system and associated applications based in an Amazon Web Service environment and on-premise Data Centres, plus associated connectivity to 3rd party applications and the businesses Data Centres
- Detailed design and implementation of technical solutions across programmes or multiple projects relating particularly to AWS
- To engage directly with Programme/Product/Delivery Managers and provide the structured framework within which the IT solutions should be delivered
- Ensure the implementation of any new infrastructure components is carried out with no impact to production services
- Evaluation of software tools, products and architecture, in order to advise on its suitability
- Ensure new processes are documented, so that knowledge is passed on accurately
- Manage third party suppliers and project teams to ensure the Infrastructure is developed with the appropriate levels of resilience minimising single points of failure
- Work with Service Delivery Teams on problem resolution of incidents
- Maintain license compliance
The Cloud Engineer will have extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience in the following areas:
- Expert level at Linux OS design, support and build
- Expert Amazon Web Services Ecosystems - EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, R53
Any experience and knowledge of the following would be advantageous:
- ‘Infrastructure as Code’ – Experience of System Orchestration/Configuration tools ie Terraform, Cloud Formation, etc
- Experience of source/version control systems, ie Git
- Cloud application performance monitoring and logging tools, ie Nagios, New Relic, and App Dynamics
- Experience of Search Engine technologies such as Endeca
