A brand-new temporary position has arisen in Nottingham for a Lead Scientist – Formulation Development to join a global Pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing organisation. This site focuses on early stage development of small molecule candidates with the capabilities to take these from the bench to clinic, using cutting edge technology.
The role of Lead Scientist is to focus on the process development of products by having input into the design of experimental programmes and then leading their execution in the laboratories. Taking ownership of these during their lifecycle to ensure they are delivered on time and in budget. With the responsibility for the supervision and direction of junior colleagues. The role will require you to work through an umbrella company paying an hourly pay rate equivalent to a salary of £35,000.
Daily tasks include: -
Manage the day to day activities of a team with the responsibility for their performance management and development
Support management by the delivery of internal research programmes
Provide leadership to more junior colleagues and the team
Work with Business Development and Group Heads to assemble quotes for clients
Ensure all projects are completed in compliance with cGMP, and the company’s policies and procedures
Perform all laboratory work to the highest standards, that withstands scrutiny by external partners
Deliver projects on time and within budget
Manage all documentation related to projects and this is handled correctly
For this opportunity you will need to have:
BSc with commercial experience or recently completed PhD
A strong understanding of appropriate characterisation techniques and/or formulation/manufacturing processes
Ability to identify priorities and action accordingly
Experience of managing / supervising small teams
Experience of working with clients or external bodies – advantageous but not essential
