Summary:
The role of Lead Scientist is an influential position to drive forward the discovery, development, and science of a company at the forefront of the development of AAV and Gene Therapies. They are a clinical stage company who are driven by the realisation that they can offer the best AAV based Gene Therapies globally. Their focus is on genetic disorders such as those that affect the central nervous system, muscle, and heart tissues.
Their Edinburgh site is the R&D Engine of the company developing new platform technologies or enhancing existing platforms as they progress to clinical trials. With technology that focuses on wild type AAV vectors allied with sector leading gene expression tools, gene dosing and high yield AAV manufacturing capabilities.
Position Overview:
They are seeking a Lead Scientist to take responsibility for a team of 6 composed of Senior Scientists and Scientists. The emphasis on this role is on the science to drive this forward and facilitate the delivery of the next generation of AAV based gene therapies.
The wider group’s purpose is to focus on the identification of how to tackle the more challenging disease pathways or at the latter stages of development to better understand how existing products are most effective against the disease and it’s biology.
There are two opportunities with one being to take a team focusing on the early stages of development and the other on the latter stages for the translation to the clinic.
Experience:
For this opportunity you will need to have a relevant degree or higher qualification with experience of working in commercial environments. With a background in gene therapies and in particular AAV vector R&D. You will need to have demonstrable experience of leading teams and projects from end to end.
