This Scientist opportunity offers the chance to join a multinational company at the forefront of the development of AAV and Gene Therapy technology. With the capabilities to answer some of the most complex questions around gene therapies. Their approach is to continually develop and commercialise new concepts to ensure the potential of their technology is realised and the company’s ambitions are achieved.
This opportunity is based at their Edinburgh site which is the R&D Engine of the company developing new platform technologies or enhancing existing platforms to reach the clinic. This site is undergoing rapid development with plans to double in size to add people with expertise new to the company and build on their successes. With major research plans underway and, in the pipeline, there are many career opportunities on offer.
The role:
The Edinburgh site is the centre of excellence for the engineering of cell lines for use in production of AAV Vectors. Working with machine learning and bioinformatics experts to develop stable cell lines to transfer to the manufacturing team. For this opportunity you do not need to have direct AAV experience, but you must have transferable cell line development experience.
As a Senior Scientist you will be:
Contribute to the design of experimental R&D programmes and then executing these in the laboratories.
Running and optimising cell line development approaches using Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate and CRISPR
Applying molecular biology techniques and assays such as PCR, FACS and flow cytometry
Mentoring more junior members of the team.
Experience:
For this opportunity you will need to have:
A PhD or MSc in a relevant topic or equivalent commercial experience.
Experience of Cell Line Development with mammalian or human cell lines e.g. adherent or stable.
Experience in the use of Gibson Assembly or CRISPR or Golden Gate or Site Directed Mutagenesis
Experience in running FACS and / or Flow cytometry
Expertise in the use of molecular biology techniques and assays
