A truly pioneering Biotech who are developing technologies aimed at accelerating the discovery and manufacture of Cell & Gene Therapies.  With the aim to deliver breakthroughs first so that these life changing therapies reach patients faster.   They are focused on two specific areas – Discovery and Bio Manufacture. Their discovery technologies are aimed at accelerating the development of CAR – T, CRISPR, DNA Plasmid, and Capsid R&D programmes.  Their bio manufacturing expertise accelerates the development of scalable manufacture of lentiviral, AAV or adenoviral based therapeutics.

They are seeking a Senior Scientist with expertise in the use of high throughput, automated systems to be the technical lead for a range of R&D and early stage Process Development programmes.  For example: the development of viral vector libraries, early stage development platforms and small scale production. Using automated and semi automated systems such as Hamilton and AMBR.

The High Throughput Team works with a number of different departments to develop methods that are transferred internally for use or scale up as part of process development programmes.  As the Senior Scientist you will be mentoring 2 Associate Scientists with the view to becoming their line manager and grow the team over time.  Leading and directing them through their day to day activities for both internal R&D programmes and external commercial programmes.  As a Senior Scientist you report into the Group Leader for Process Development who will help you develop and grow the team.

The responsibilities of Scientist includes:

  • Lead the design and execution of experimental programmes for early-stage development of new platforms and continuous optimisation of existing processes.
  • Operate as the technical lead and SME for a range of small scale and high throughput viral vector production, testing of constructs, and library creation activities.
  • Lead 2 Associate Scientists as a mentor by directing their day to day activities, delivering projects and scientific guidance.
  • This is a collaborative role where you will be working with internal stakeholders such as cell line development and automation.
  • Support and contribute to the protection and assessment of intellectual property.
  • Work wit business development and project management teams to scope out and evaluate projects.
They are seeking a scientist with the following experience:

  • MSc with demonstrable lab-based experience or PhD in relevant discipline.  With experience of working in academia or industry.
  • Experience of working with high throughput liquid handlers e.g. Hamilton or AMBR or Tecan.
  • Experience of working with different viral vectors – Lentiviral, AAV and adenovirus.
  • Expertise in the development of small-scale production processes, adherent / suspended cell lines and cell culture processes.
  • Awareness of programming automation processes
  • Ability to capture, analyse and present data generated from experimental programmes.
