Perhaps you are thinking of looking for a new position in the New Year? The festive break is a great time to dust off your CV and review how well it portrays the experiences you have had this year and the skills you have developed. In terms of the job markert we are expecting a lot of new vacancies to be released by mid-January. Companies have allocated additional budgets...brand new roles are being created all over the place (especially within the Biotech sector)...and recent internal promotions will lead to vacancies to backfill people who have moved up.

But don't forget - if you update your CV, make sure you update your LinkedIn profile as well!

Prospective employers are likely to look at BOTH, so please ensure that the dates and job titles in your LinkedIn profile match what you have put in your CV; and make sure your current role is in the present tense and everything else is in the past tense. These are only minor points but are important to help you make the right first impression. Otherwise it is very likely that a meticulous hiring manager will spot the differences, and will therefore focus some of the interview highlighting these inconsistencies, which will never be good for getting off on the right foot.
