Today is all about preparing your workspace for 2022 and beginning things on the right note. 10th January is recognised as “National Clean Your Desk Day”, and what a better time to look at your own desk than after the first week back in the New Year.

A messy desk is an invitation to chaos! A clean and clear desk, on the other hand, helps you focus, be more productive, and generally makes you feel good about your workspace. There is considerable research that has been conducted into the psychology behind having a clear desk, being able to work in a structured, less stressful way by only being surrounded by the items that you really need and use regularly. Having a clear, clean desk is healthy and more productive and goes hand-in-hand with many of the pledges that we make to ourselves at New Year to be more mindful, ease stress and make more time for ourselves.

And this applies to your computer desktop just as much as it does to your actual desk. Look at how and where you are storing your files, folders and e-mails. Could your file storage be structured in a better way?

What can you do to make your workspace less cluttered, cleaner and more organised?
