Did you know:
“St. Valentine’s Day” originated from the end of the 5th century AD, following a declaration by Roman Pope Gelasius. However, it wasn’t until the 1300s that 14th February became associated with love and romance.
14th February was generally thought to be the start of mating season for birds.
The first heart-shaped box of chocolates was introduced in 1861, by Richard Cadbury, son of Cadbury founder John Cadbury.
It may not be very romantic...but a very important invention was introduced on Valentine's Day. On 14th February 1929, a young bacteriologist named Alexander Fleming introduced penicillin to the world!
