Our client partner had been unable to fill a key expansion role within their Application Scientist Division, this role had been open for over 8 months. Next Phase utilised its extensive network of talent within the chemistry informatics, and using both search and referral techniques we identified 8 individuals who matched our client’s essential criteria within 2 weeks, 3 were presented to our client partner. All 3 were invited for 1st stage interview, with 2 being selected to attend final stage. The successful individual commenced employment within 3 months from the start of the process which enable our client to expand the level of services and support they could provide to their growing customer base.
Our client partner has developed artificial intelligence-enabled cloud-based software and hardware platforms to digitize chemistry.
Founded 17 years ago, they have acquired 2 companies, and have offices in the UK, France and Germany, and are now approx. 60 in size with individuals working in the office, hybrid or remotely. They had previously engaged with recruitment search firms, but found many were too generalist and were not able to understand or fulfil their requirements, therefore leaving key roles unfilled for lengthy periods of time which impacted projects both internally and externally.
Recruitment Solution:
Next Phase spoke to HR and the Hiring Manager for the Applications Scientist division to ensure we fully understood the opportunity, ideal profile, and to help us identify previous hurdles experienced. One hurdle highlighted had been an uncertainty as to whether the salary offered was competitive in the market. The client also highlighted team fit as an important aspect when selecting people for the company.
The first step taken by Next Phase was to provide salary benchmarking on the role for both the UK and Germany. This demonstrated that the client needed to increase the upper salary band by 5%. Whilst the benchmarking commenced, Next Phase began to identify individuals who met the essential criteria of the role. 36 individuals were identified as potentially suitable candidates both via our internal talent pools and wider networks, and 5 personal contacts within the informatics field were also contacted to explore who they would refer for such a role, with 2 referrals secured. Following direct contact and interviewing potential candidates, 8 were shortlisted, and 3 presented to the client.
Results:
Three candidates were presented to our client. The first 2 within a week of the campaign, the final candidate in the second week. All three were selected for 1st stage interview, with two being selected for final stage interview. The successful candidate commenced employment within 3 months of the campaign starting. She is now involved in demonstrations, presentations and training for customers and supporting our client’s internal sales team.
