Seasoned Public Relations Account Director required by busy global agency head quartered in Cheshire.  This would suit an established senior account manager looking for the next step or an account director looking for a change of scenery and a new direction.  This role will suit someone with experience in B2B and a keen interest in science and technology.

The agency integrate sales and marketing for businesses that supply the regulatory and industrial sectors. They help convert innovative instrumentation & software, products, materials and services into sales.  Having evolved from a purely public relations agency into the strategic consultancy you see today, they remain uniquely positioned to help their partners with their media relations programs. Their heritage lies in product communication, programs on large-scale issues that impact society, as well as corporate and crisis communications. The media LOVE working with them and thanks to their established relationships with editors on key publications for their industry, they have a track record of delivering highly successful media relations programs. 

As Account Director you will be expected to play a key role in developing business and managing existing client relationships, as well as developing the skills of junior team members.  You will have specific account responsibility for several named accounts and will also develop new business alongside senior management. You will also expand current business through the identification of projects and other revenue generating opportunities and the development of proposals for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Account direction - responsible for developing a strategic programme and finalising programme activity and budget with the client
Client liaison / expectation management  - Maintains close contact with client personnel in support of their challenges / as counsel and has regular contact regarding account direction, budgets, resourcing etc.
People management / leadership - Coaches and trains junior team members
Financial management / BD - Creates and develops opportunities for growing existing business and maintains overall financial control on all matters relating to designated clients

Skills / Capabilities:

 

  • Account direction
  • Exemplary project management, time management and organisation skills
  • Demonstrates ability to manage own and team workload effectively, prioritising and maximising resource available with client needs constantly in mind
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt copy for different tools, audiences and requirements and develop team in mastering this
  • Ability to diagnose / understand client needs and provide clarity in real time on requirements / agency role and next steps
  • High level of attention to detail and focus on quality / service excellence
  • Excellent publicity skills, a strong understanding of the media, editorial requirements and what makes a story
  • Experience of delivering impactful PR campaigns from inception through to delivery
  • Adept at briefing designers, photographers, printers, web designers, in a knowledgeable and precise manner, negotiate costs, manage quality control and delivery

 

Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of the strategic role of PR in the overall communications / marketing mix
  • Deep understanding of digital and new marketing strategies, tools, channels and trends
  • Deep knowledge of client sectors, industries, businesses, relevant media and competitors / market context
  • Ability to understand clients’ strategic challenges and provide advice on marketing / PR solutions
  • Intimate knowledge of / contributes to all agency processes and procedures and consistent compliance / monitoring of junior team members
  • Understands and can consult on role of research and insight in the PR and marketing mix
  • Ability to advise clients on sales / lead development strategies and the integration with marketing and comms activities
  • Deep knowledge of the agency offer, positioning and strengths and able to match them to client or prospect potential needs
  • Awareness of agency competitive landscape
