A permanent position has arisen in the Production department of a leading Biopharmaceutical company in Worthing. If you have excellent attention to detail, experience from a role which requires very high standards, or has an interest in biology, this will be an excellent opportunity for you.

You will focus on the manufacture of liquid vaccines made using living organisms and biological matter (pollen, dust mites, venom etc). We are looking for a committed, hard-working individual who is keen to learn all about the highly controlled production of liquid vaccines. If you have worked in a GMP, sterile or ISO-regulated setting and are used to following SOPs, this would be a particular advantage. Life science graduates will also be considered.

This is a permanent position with an equivalent salary of £18,525. You will work 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday and this will be a fascinating way to progress your career.

The Company

A pioneering pharmaceutical organisation working with biological substances to assist drug development and produce innovative new treatments for people worldwide. The company is well known in the local area for its positive and supportive working environment. You will be joining a small, collaborative team that forms part of the Primary Production department, preparing substances that will be used in the development and manufacturing of vaccines for patients across several countries. The company is easily accessible by car or train.

The Roles

You will join a busy, supportive team that specialises in primary manufacturing operations, working with a range of substances to produce liquid vaccines for allergy sufferers. The department is within a high-grade, state-of-the-art GMP clean room that requires you to work meticulously and carefully at all times. Your role will include aqueous filtration processes, stock solutions, dispensary and media qualification activities, working both by hand and with machinery. The purpose of your role is to extract proteins from different substances, to be used in different Pharmaceutical products. You will wear clean room clothing (overalls, hair net, shoe covers, no make-up etc).

Compared to other Pharmaceutical production roles, this position will be varied and will challenge you intellectually as well as physically. You will be involved in production planning, organising and scheduling, as well as using a range of equipment that needs to be maintained, cleaned and validated regularly in order to maximise production efficiency and avoid cross-contamination of different samples. You will contribute to GMP documentation and perform various routine duties as well as being involved in individual projects to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce errors.

You will work hard to make sure that all activities follow strict industry standards, including Health & Safety and GMP. You will work closely with other departments to monitor progress of production and analytical testing and you will need to meticulously record all results. This will be an excellent way to build up your understanding of the Pharmaceutical industry, gaining valuable skills and ongoing training.

Experience

You do not necessarily need experience in a GMP-regulated Pharmaceutical company, but this would be a significant advantage. You will at least need to have worked somewhere that requires excellent attention to detail and precision. Candidates will be considered from industries such as Food, Medical Devices, Precision Engineering, Lab Testing (including microbiology testing), Diagnostics etc. If you have worked in a GMP clean room environment, or a sterile area, it would be a very strong advantage, but this is not essential. Above all else, we want someone with excellent communication skills, good numeracy skills, an honest and likeable manner, and the ability to work in a role that requires constant attention to detail. Science graduates with less experience will also be considered.
