Based in Cambridge, this is a new Clinical Supplies Manager position with a medium sized global pharmaceutical group. The role focuses on devising, delivering and managing optimised supply chain solutions for all phases of studies across all therapeutic areas. This is a broad and varied role working collaboratively with internal departments and external service providers. The company offers a friendly and supportive working environment within their European headquarters of 200 people. This role is offered on an initial 12-month contract basis working for the company on their payroll with full benefits.         

The Company
The company is the research facility managing drug development exclusively for a globally based group that is collectively a medium sized pharmaceutical organisation. They offer the advantage of a smaller, supportive and collaborative company environment while working as part of a larger, global organisation. With around 200 people in Cambridge the company has an impressive pipeline of products in development and clinical trials across a range of therapeutic areas.    

The Clinical Supplies group is an integral and highly respected function with Clinical Trials Operations where the importance of the supply chain is recognised as vital to study success.

The Role
The Clinical Supplies Manager will design, deliver and manage supply chain solutions in accordance with regulations to meet study needs across all trial phases and therapeutic areas. Small, early phase studies are supplied in-house while later phase international studies utilise external service providers for packaging, labelling, distribution and IxRS systems.

The role includes providing input to study designs and protocols while agreeing budgets and timelines. Establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors is key to successful project delivery. Inherent in this will be managing all aspects of supply procurement including forecasting and ordering; making external vendor selection recommendations; leading the generation of IxRS requirement specifications; supporting and managing all supply activities including manufacturing, packaging, labelling, distribution and returns; overseeing external vendor activities; conducting operational review and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The Clinical Supplies Manager has accountability for the entire supply chain and associated budgets with success being achieved through study needs being met. In addition the CSM will champion process improvement within all aspects of clinical supply chain activities.

Education & Experience
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Supplies professional who enjoys the autonomy of project ownership and delivery while working within a highly collaborative group. Experience required includes project management, inventory management, quality standards and all aspects of the clinical supply chain including packaging, labelling, distribution and returns plus involvement in process improvement. Candidates are welcome from pharmaceutical, NHS and CTS service company environments.
