Based in Dunfermline, Scotland an exciting new Electronic Engineer opportunity has arisen with a market leader of ophthalmology diagnostic devices, offering the chance to join a dedicated team at the forefront of medical device innovation and development. This role focuses on the design and development of electronic modules and systems for new retinal imaging product development and existing product improvement.

The Role
Working as an integral part of the experienced development team you will develop new products, from concept and design through to realisation. These will be analogue/digital electronic modules and systems for new retinal imaging product development and existing product improvement. Inherent in this will be following design control processes; concept generation and analysis, the production of technical specifications, and the provision of electronic design documentation including Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA). Overall the role involves providing timely delivery of electronic design solutions to meet project requirements.    

In addition to core design work the role includes responsibility for promoting continuous improvement through design review and analysis of failure reports ensuring emerging technologies are cutting edge whilst being delivered to schedules and budgets. The application of new methodologies and technology to existing products within the portfolio, will be a further focus, ensuring the company’s products are constantly evolving. The role also encompasses providing technical support to customers when required.

Experience

The successful candidate will have a degree in Electronics and at least 5 years commercial experience within Electronic Design Engineering, ideally gained within the medical device industry (however medical device experience complemented with other industry experience will be considered). You will be proficient in design for manufacturing, assembly and product testing and skilled in the use of modelling analysis tools for programmable devices and electronic design automation. An understanding of medical device development regulations, ISO13485/FDA Design Control, is also required. On a personnel level, excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to tailor your approach accordingly for the audience.
