Summary
A pioneering Pharmaceutical organisation in West Sussex has created a brand new role alongside the expansion of its QC and R&D functions. You will have a very broad role, including lab management responsibilities, leadership of method development projects, and undertaking internal process improvement initiatives whilst maintaining full GMP compliance. This is a permanent position with a very competitive salary and benefits, to be discussed on application. The CompanyA pioneering UK-based Pharmaceutical company specialising in the development and production of injectable and oral dose vaccines and diagnostic kits for people who suffer from allergies. They have developed an innovative approach to adjuvant therapy which will be of particular interest to someone with a passion for scientific innovation and GMP / sterile production. There are around 160 employees in Worthing and the company has an excellent reputation for its welcoming atmosphere, staff morale and ongoing development.

The Role
This is a varied and exciting role which will include leading, organising and managing Laboratory functions such as equipment, compliance investigation and personnel issues within the team including performance management, training and development. You will have CAPEX accountability across a set of laboratories (including Chemistry, Biochemistry and Microbiology), making decisions on spending for both equipment and software. You will also have direct line management responsibility for the company’s LIMS team.

Additionally, you will undertake a range of projects relating to method / process development, looking at ways to maximise the efficiency and productivity of internal processes whilst maintaining full compliance to GMP and other regulations. This will include direct communication with different teams such as QC, QA, Development, Manufacturing, Reg Affairs and more, all of whom are on site.

Experience
The successful candidate will have a life science degree (or higher), together with significant experience in a lab management role within a GMP-regulated commercial Pharmaceutical (or similar) environment. Experience of method and / or product development would be advantageous but is not essential. Most crucially, you will be a strong Project Manager, preferably backed with expertise in the use of recognised project tracking software (SharePoint, MS Project etc). An awareness of Quality systems is essential, which you will ideally be able to illustrate with examples of leading improvement initiatives and maximising efficiency.
